Students and Staff Participate in Unity Day
On Wednesday, October 19, Maple Hills students celebrated Unity Day. This special day focuses on inclusion and friendship. Classes chose their own way of celebrating. Some created posters to decorate the hallways, made unity chains with ideas to prevent bullying written on it, and wore orange - the Unity Day color. Fourth grade students even participated in "Fast Friends," their friendship version of speed dating, where each student paired up and had thirty seconds to find something they had in common and something that was different between themselves and their partner. Betsy Sanford's Fifth Grade class summed up our day best, saying "everyone belongs here!"
