Touring the State Capitol Building!

Students pose with Mark Mullet in the state capital

On Friday, January 19, Maple Hills 4th Grade students had the opportunity to visit the State Capitol in Olympia.

Students toured the Capitol building including the Rotunda, Senate, and House Chambers and were able to meet Senator Mark Mullet (Mrs. Mullet's husband!) and Representatives Lisa Callan and Bill Ramos. They learned about the three branches of government and how they work together, and they learned how bills are passed.

Senator Mullet and Representatives Callan and Ramos also spoke about what their jobs entailed in and outside of Olympia. Colin A, from Mrs. Grassley's class, enjoyed learning about the specific bills being discussed and voted on this year, and Dottie S, from Mrs Mullet's class, said, "It was the most fun ever!"
